Tips for seniors

information on

How to look your best for your senior portrait.
Information compiled by some of the top photographers in the country.

Did you know?

* Yearbook deadlines for senior portraits are usually September or October of your senior year. Book your appointment between your Junior and Senior year. Don't wait till the last minute.

* Many photographers send their film or digital disks off to a photo lab to make the prints. Allow two to three weeks delivery time for this when you are given a deadline. Christmas time can be longer.

* If you like outdoor photos, be sure to be photographed in the summer or fall. In most areas the follage and flowers are not in full bloom until May. If you want to send out invitations with photos 30 days in advance it may not be possible when the photographer has to send your images to a color lab to be printed.

* Applications of all types, stand a better chance if they have a photograph attached to them. This includes college and job applications. Of course this is never required, but it does prove that:
1. You take some pride in yourself
2. You are willing to go the extra effort and expense for this application
3. You don't look like Dennis Rodman.
All things being equal, they will pick the one they can see. Order extra wallets.

*College apps start in December.

*There is a huge difference between photographers. The past 11 years you had a photographer photograph the whole school in a couple hours. How would you like a photographer to spend a couple hours with just you. Look at the images on this page. Don't they show a little more personality? Give one a call. Let them know you saw it on Best USA Photographers.

If one picture says a thousand words, what are you saying about yourself ? (Randall Tomaras)
