What we need from members
to best promote them

1. To be pro-active - The idea that an artist can pay a fee, sit back and watch the profits pour in is really silly. Best USA Photographers is photographers working together to provide extra value to potential clients and getting your name in front of the right people. It is still your photography and prices that will sell them. By working together we can do things that are normally not cost effective. Work and working together are the key terms here.

2. Public relations questionnaire - This helps us market you as a photographer. All the questions are there for a reason. The more you fill out the more our writers have to work with.

3. Category selection - We are in the process of changing the category names based on current word searches. Each photographer will pick in order of importance, up to 8 categories. The selection committee will need to approve you in each of those categories. It is not fair to say that you are a wildlife photography if you have been to the zoo one time. Being relevant to the client is vital. If you are entering into a new area, which we all do make sure that the quality of your images is up to the standards of a best USA photographer.

4. Images for site (need to be approved) - These images can be emailed to us or you can put them up on a web page just for us and we will grab them off your site. Images on the site are 90 pixels tall at 72 DPI, and to be assured they can be used on most pages, not any wider than 140 pixels. We can display panoramic images at 90 pixels tall, but not on all pages. In the past we have let photographers display many images. What we have found is that those with many images get less click through's to their site. We will allow up to 24 images for all 8 categories. You can spread them across you categories any way you want. If you qualify for less than 8 categories (which many do) we do not recommend more than 5 in any one category. No special bordering. We will place a 2px gray border inside your image. Since these images are not large select photographs that can be viewed at the size you see on our site.

5. Images for promotion, e-books, display - These images need to be bigger depending on the project. If you send a 9x12 image (not to exceed 12" on the longest side) at 72 DPI we will reduce and sharpen to fit the size of the project. We currently do not have an FTP set up for Best USA Photographers, but our ISP will take up to 10 megs of images or if you prefer you can upload the images to your web site on a special HTML page that you send only to us. Just email us the link. We will let you know when we have them downloaded. Of course those images that are for display in our traveling exhibits will need to be printed framed and sent. Please  insure those.

6. Projects of interest to you - There are a lot of projects listed. Some pertain to certain type of photography. Let us know what interests you the most.

7. Your Bio - If you follow the links to the photographers you will see a short bio on most photographers. You will get 300% more traffic if you keep it very short. Leave the longer bio for your own personal web page. You want people to go to your web site not stay on ours.

8. Your picture - If we are going to send out press releases about you, we need to have a picture of you. This jpeg should be 4x6 at 300 dpi. We also need this to be in the running for the photographer of the week. If you are booking a show somewhere let us know that also.

9. Original articles - One of the easiest ways to promote the heck out of you is to submit article to various web sites and magazines. These articles must be in your words and original . Original means that you have not publish this article anywhere, especially on the internet. If you have, Google will penalize both your web site and ours for duplicate content. It is ok to rewrite an article but make sure you use different words to describe your content. Somewhere in the article you want to mention Best USA Photographers. We will add a link that goes to your bio page on Best USA Photographers. If you want our staff to rewrite an existing article, they will do it for a low low price of $15 for 3 pages. Over 3 pages is $5 per page.

10. Feedback - Let us know what you are thinking. Positive or negative. Of course we need to look at what is good for the whole group not just one individual. This whole process of how we became a public relations firm arose from comments made by our members. Our goal is to bring you business and have us all work together.

11. Oh Yeah, Money - We do have an introductory offer of $365  for as many years as you care to purchase. It is only for those photographers that can see the light. We are only going to open this up for a limited time and 8 quality photographers per state. Please keep in mind that you must get past the selection process. Once we hit our limit we will close down and make a great example of the photographers we have and create the projects. When we reopen it will be $999 per year and again for a limited time. With Best USA Photographers it is not about the money as much as it is about the projects. And the projects do take a considerable amount of time and staff to do properly. That is why we are a lot more than a portfolio site, but a limited number of you can get it now for the cost of a portfolio site.
